Drop Box Invites are here

So I fortunately have been surfing Techcrunch at the right time…

A few hours ago they gave our 200 invites to http://www.getdropbox.com/ take a look at their screencast, very slick!

It does syncing files between multiple computers. Does versioning.

It will be a paid service, I am currently trying out SugarSync… that is how I ran into DropBox tonight.

I have a hand and footfull of invites… I’d say about 20.

Give me a comment or find me some live atmosphere tunes or even the new Lemons album!

Legal Leak, Paint It Gold Episode 2, and WLGYLPTSG URB Review

So following all of their Seasons releases they are putting out a song to download.

This time it is pre-release, it looks like the album is out… somewhere. The guy at URB has it and says there are a lot of parenting rhymes.

The song is called Shoulda Known. The beat is dope, it is what they were using in Episode One. I got a few other songs from the new album recorded from the Vegoose Music Fest. Hit those up.

For your streaming pleasure, here is Shoulda Known:

I bought my first MP3 at Tradebit

Rebelution - Safe and sound

It’s there radio hit, I should have been paying attention to them earlier… My friends have been sponsoring them for a while now. I got it for 99 cents at http://www.tradebit.com/ It seemed a little sketchy but I didn’t want to support snocap, they used to do song fingerprinting…

I figured it was an important step for me… ‘I am thinking of picking up their new cd and also NMB’s album too. They are Hawaiian Hip Hop/Experimental. I just cannot find the MP3 album online to buy; they want to send me a CD. Too old school for me. I went to their CD release after party and they ended not showing up. I would have been able to pick up their cd pre release for ten bones…

Note to Rebelution boys: If get one problem let me know and I fix it quick. It’s your old CD so I figure it’s promotion, plus I am not posting the download link!

The no career plan Career Planning aproach.

It’s Fall of 2005 and this motivational speaker from that big software company M$ shows up at my school for to give away some goodies and give advice.

He is an old guy… not too old but has a wife and kids and travels for a living telling every super nerd in college to get a life and have a plan for the next 50 years of your life.

The main thing I got from his speach is that I need to have a career plan to advance myself. I need to have a goal and a timeline, I need to set up qualifications and stepping blocks so I can get to that goal. I wrote it on this little scrap of papper that I have filed away somewhere.

As of today it is still on my rtm to do list, above “ensure technology is always an aid, not an obstacle” and below Take work sponsored college advancment.

Still to this day I have nothing… I have a job, I know what I like(at the moment), I know what I am good at and I am fairly satisfied at where I am at for being a little over one year into my professional career.

The first rule of career planning: Do not plan your career.

I like the whole Fight Club unimportance feel.

The second rule of career planning: Instead of planning your career, focus on developing skills and pursuing opportunities.

After that he kinda forgets about rules and just gives examples of measuring risk versus reward and that if you never risk you still may have a great career but will miss out on that one insane opportunity that you will love.

The issue is that without taking risk, you can’t exploit any opportunities.

He talks about being young and being old and having different responsibilities and thier risk profile(the things that could go wrong) associated with it.

My return/risk profile for future jobs are a little too secret for this blog and I have some opportunities that have presented itself and now I need to decide if I want to take the jump…

DRM-free tunes cheaper than at uncle Steves

Amazon opens their MP3 store today, yes a MP3 store. I didn’t say MP3 service because they don’t have a service for you, they just sell you the MP3 eg. let you download it, thats it game over nothing more nothing less. They don’t have a music player to go with it, they don’t have a specific MP3 player you have to buy to play it on the go. They guarantee it to work with anything that plays Mp3’s… why because there is no DRM, Finally!

A-Z MP3

Lets get the record straight and state that I do use iTunes… I have a iPhone, I have to. I do not have a iTunes store account, I was tempted to sign up for one to get the album covers downloaded for me but then it wanted my CC#. No thank you.

So, will this convert me to a music buying guy?! I looked for some of my favorite artists on Amazon MP3 and found one cd by Atmosphere… It was god loves ugly, a classic but I got it already.

Will the iTunes WiFi Store convert me?! Time will tell, I highly doubt it. I am not that much of a compulsive buyer. I may change with music but who know how long my friends may take to get past the new firmware. I may never upgrade past iPhone 1.0.2.

On the amazonmp3 top chart look what we have at number 2, excuse me it is now #1:

1234 by Feist

One two three four tell me why you love me more….

That just so happens to be the AdTune for Apples new iPod Nano Video, I don’t know the price in iTunes… most likely 99 cents, but on Amazon the free download is 10 cents cheaper and is VBR 256 kilobits per second DRM FREE! Take that apple, I know they sell $1.29 DRM free track but that is only with one record label to my knowledge.

To sum it up I think we are moving along quite well, the internet is great. It allows competition and also things to get done very quickly. If I ever have a hard time finding some free tracks for music I just have to have I think amazonmp3 is the go to guy here, when the time comes I will let you know!

Thank you Amazon for taking a step in the right direction, thank you record labels for allowing DRM Free MP3 downloads!

Why I was so excited to mint!

So mint is this online app that make figuring out your spending habits a breeze. It hooks up to all your online bank accounts and uses AI to distinguish each transactions category. It also has suggestions on how to save money… This is where they think they will make money, charge credit card companies and banks to advertise their low rates or discounts. Click the image to visit.

So you may be paranoid about giving them your online banking cridentials but it seems to be pretty secure because it uses Yodlee sounds like a goofy name but they pretty much own the online banking industry.

Give it a try, I am still trying to figure out if I really spend 2.5G’s a month or if that includes bank transfers, the sites been getting pretty hammered since it won the TechCrunch40.

We are now iPhone compatible

Following the trend of making sites using iUI I installed the iWPhone plugin for this blog, I have tested it and boy is it Iphone-a-licous!

It even resizes for larger pages… I don’t really love the Interact or Share Section but I can change that in the source… I hope!

Uncle Steve has big hopes for his phone… get ready wordpressers.

So I got invited to have one number for life, they didn’t have any 808 numbers so I found this one which seems pretty easy to dial. 989 414 4477
